Ticking away ... Day 750 ~ the very latest ...

Since my last update I have been fitted with a third stocking and by third I mean using a third set of measurements. This latest stocking is ok for walking once my leg gets a bit sweaty [there's no other way of putting it]. Then if I'm out walking it will stay up.

There may be another solution though ! Glue ! Yes, there is a type of glue that could work but I will be encouraged to make a donation for it as I can't get it on an NHS prescription. I think I might have to try the glue because on shorter walks [before my leg heats up] I have taken to dropping my trousers in secluded places and hoisting up my stocking as far as it will go ! If I get arrested for a public order offence I will be referring the authorities to this blog.

What else ?

I've had a pneumonia injection and a flu injection. I knew you could have the latter but had never heard of the former. Well, it seems because I have a weakened immune system [due to the chemotherapy I had] it is best I have them both. I didn't have them together though. I waited a week between them and had what felt like a bruised arm for a few days after each of them.

Two weeks on Wednesday I go back to the Cavendish Suite to have a check up it being three months since my last one. Bearing in mind that the doctor said the chemotherapy could work for just a few weeks or as long as 12-18 months [if I was lucky] I feel pleased that it is now some 7 months since I finished my chemotherapy and I feel ok. Still, a visit to the Cavendish Suite always gets my heart a-fluttering slightly. I won't be spending the next 16 days worrying about my next appointmenr though. I know it is a case of 'when' not 'if' ... and there are things to be done !

  1. I wish I'd have known about that glue when I was at school with permanently falling down socks! I'd have given up my pocket money for an alternative to those horrid elastic garters that my Mum made me wear. As for looking upon the future in terms of "when" and not "if" - you keep looking at it that way, Charlie. Then when the "when" never comes, at least you'll have kept busy in the meantime! :)

  2. Hello Charlie...I hope the Glue works. And Huzza Huzza for the successful Chemo!! Hang in there and enjoy those walks. (just go limp wristed when you drop your pants, in this day and age it will be considered almost normal!) LOL

  3. Good luck with your appointment Charlie, I am so pleased that you have had 7 months post chemo and you still feel fine. I just love this photo you've put up, certainly a nicer image than the one I had when you mentioned dropping your trousers in public to pull your stockings up!!!!!!! LOL

  4. Thanks for my morning chuckle. Now when I see a pedestrian sign and think of you, up will pop another mental visual to make me laugh. I understand the dread of Dr. visits. We try to put it out of mind in between visits, but it intrudes at the weirdest times, and at 3:30 in the morning.

  6. I could do with that glue ...my leg bandages are forever falling down !!
I am glad you are still feeling ok
i got the flu jab because I also have weak immunity but I did not get the pneumo one as there were not enough to go round which is slightly worrying considering I almost died of pneumonia.

    1. The glue costs £6 for a little bottle. I don't know how many weeks it will last ~ I will report back.

  7. So, you're stocking up on stockings, then?

Glue, huh? Just check the label to make sure it doesn't have the brand name 'Loctite'!!

I'm really pleased to hear you're still feeling good 7 months after chemo. Fingers crossed for many more months.

I'll be a character witness if you ARE arrested for public order offences.

    1. I could use some of these stockings at the bottom of my bed at Christmas ... whether I'd fill them remains to be seen. Thanks for offering to stand by me [not literally] if I get caught with my trousers down.

  10. It is normal to get nervous prior and during all the check-ups. I was a nervous wreck when I had to go in for my 18 month checkup in October. Once you get that big "C" diagnosis, it's hard not to worry. Your attitude has been great though all of this, Charlie, and that, I believe is half the battle. Keep living life to the fullest, which in the end, is all any of us can do.

By the way, I have gone to yet another blogging site that the Picture Perfect group has set up. To me, it is much more user friendly than this site is and it operates in a similar manner to Multiply. Here is where the site is if you'd like to check it out. http://muzenews.ning.com I'll still pop over here from time to time but I think my new blogging home will be over at muzenews.

I'm also on Facebook. I'll have to look you up over there.

    1. Thanks Karen, I think you've caught up with me down on Facebook haven't you.

I hope you're still doing well.

I'm not involved with the Picture Perfect group but I will have a look at muzenews. The problem is [like so many of us] I don't have a lot of spare time. I;m on Blogger, Facebook and Instagram and by the time I've put a blog up or a photo and checked one or two sites I'm running out of time.

Still, I hope we can keep in touch.
