My great great great uncle John Bayliff Bowman lived at Summer Hill, near Monyash in the County of Derby.
The Bowman family, who were Quakers, had three farms, One Ash Grange [which John Bayliff Bowman often referred to as O.A.], Cales and Summer Hill [which he usually referred to as S.Hill or S.H.]

* I assume 'E.B. refers to JBB's brother Ebenezer Bowman.
** It is likely that this meant a visit to my great great great grandparents Heny and Mary Bowman [the elderly couple in the photograph above] who lived at The Elms, Ashford in the Water.
The weather they were having really takes me back,I will never forget the harsh winters we had on our farm.Hope you are feeling better Charlie.Ann
ReplyDeleteI remember the weather in 1962 when we were snowed in for three days. Yes, I'm feeling better than I was Ann, thank you. Still a little nauseous though ... and not very enthusiastic as regards going out.
DeleteYes, that weather sounds pretty wild!! I wonder how the cheese tasted? I love traditionally made cheese rather than that plastic stuff from supermarkets.

DeleteYes, I'm feeling better than I was, thank you. Walking upstairs is slightly uncomfortable because of the swelling on the left side of my groin but a CT Scan will tell us more. It doesn't feel as uncomfortable as it did though so that's something.
