Chatsworth ~ Beyond Limits ~ 2012/13 ...

A change from the hares !

Exhibit No. 13 is Barry Flanagan's 'Bronze Horse' ....

Beyond Limits ~ 2012 ... exhibit number 13

Once again though the 'line that mustn't be crossed' gets in the way and spoils some of the photos ...

Just think how much better the photograph above would have been without the chain and metal pegs.

The horse isn't quite life sized ...

... or even lifelike ...

Even so I rather like this horse ...

You could almost imagine him springing to life.

  1. Wow, this is almost mainstream for Flanagan. It's not a caricature, but a fairly accurate representation of the subject.

    1. The hares are rather more provocative I think.

  3. I agree with Ann. The hares are more fun. Maybe you could suggest that they put a circular path around the statues with a wee sign saying "Please stay on the path while viewing and do not approach the subject."

    1. I like the idea of the circular path but of course these exhibits aren't permanent so I suppose a few pegs and a chain are easier to remove.

  4. Yes, he is a bit odd in his conformation, but then I've seen some very odd shaped horses and ponies in my time! LOL At around 13-14 hands high (which is a guess from the picture that includes people) he's far more of a pony than a horse - and has some pony conformation, too. I like him. He reminds me of the type of pony you'd see on Greek pottery - all head and legs, but not a lot of body. I'd love him in my garden - you'd find me out there sitting on him on fine days. lol

    2. It'd be a little like Alice's Cheshire Cat - all you'd see was a big smile. lol
