Ticking away ... Day 807 ~ you've heard the phrase 'going downhill fast' ?

Well, that's what seems to have happened with me. I haven't been out walking this year though I have to say I'm not missing it as much as I thought I might do ... which is weird.

I went for a CT scan last Thursday and I thought I was going to get away really quickly as the nurse took me through straight away. "Don't I need to drink some water first ?" I asked.

"There's no mention of that on my note ..." she replied. "I'd better check ...".

Before I knew it I was back in the waiting room drinking a litre of water.

Three quarters of an hour later I was being scanned and that went fine. I was out of the hospital by 4.30 despite being prepared to stay until 5pm which is how long I was told I might have to stay in the letter I was sent.

So, Wednesday, tomorrow, is the Big Day. The Results.

My 'groin strain' has developed into a very uncomfortable feeling on the left side of my groin which is fine as long as I do nothing but which feels very uncomfortable if I lift my leg or turn my body. When I walk upstairs it feels as though there's a lump the size of an apple in there. I rather suspect it's the pelvic bone which is no longer quite what it should have been.

I'm hoping tomorrow the doctor will say with some more treatment he can improve matters ... for a while at least.

Still, I'm enjoying my time reading, blogging, eating honey on toast, talking to my children, holding my Beloved, the sort of things we should all be doing all the livelong days of our lives.

    1. Thank you for your uplifting comment and I'm touched you felt able to share your feelings with us. No, I won't give up but every now and again I've got to expect a little dip in my outlook. Once again, thank you for sharing.

  2. My advice, such as it is, is to try not to pre-diagnose what's going on with your "groin strain". I have found, over the years, that inevitably I wind up thinking it's something that's completely the polar opposite to what the doctor suspects it is. I know it's difficult not to pre-diagnose, though. I'll be crossing my fingers, toes and eyes that it turns out to be something fixable and nothing to do with the prostate. I'll have to stop typing now though, 'cos I can't see what I'm doing with my eyes crossed! :)

    1. The doctor has already said that he believes the pain in my groin are the prostate cancer cells doing what prostate cancer cells do ... but I will await tomorrow's results. In the meantime Jenny, keep crossing your fingers etc etc.

    1. Well the letter telling me of the appointment mentioned that I'd got to be prepared to drink a litre of water and be in the hospital for two hours ... so when they took me through for the scan straight away I did think something was wrong.

As for hoping for the best but thinking the worst I think we all do that ... but I am not worrying.

    1. Thank you Pet ... the difficulty that I am having walking is a new thing for me. I've never really been ill or poorly with the usual childhood ailments so this is a 'novelty'.

  13. Just a quick note as I'm feeling drained. Who would have thought the information that I have a PSA reading of 55 and enlarged lymph nodes would be considered as 'not too bad' ... but that's how we've been thinking of it since I got back home.

I don't have cancer cells in my pelvic bone or so it seems but I am being put on Abiraterone ~ the last stage of defence. All in all though the news isn't as bad as I thought it might be ...

Thanks to you all for your support. I will try and post a bit more in the next day or so.

  15. Charlie.. Your always in my Thoughts.. I pray your days are filled the way you feel.. sitting by a window watching a bird pulling up a worm from the warm earth, Listening to some nice soft music, And taking a walk around your garden and smelling what flowers there are out at this time of year. Living your life easy, and with your Beloved and your Children around you.

You have become such a dear friend. Take Care Charlie,, Your The Best...

  17. Thank you everyone. I didn't have such a good night, sleeping until 6am when the discomfort in my left armpit and left side of my groin proved a little too much and I got up and took some paracetomol. A blog will hopefully follow summing up yesterday's events ... and more.
