Minus Multiply

By the time you read this [or shortly thereafter] any blogs you have [or had] on Multiply will probably be floating in an anti-clockwise fashion down the plughole ...

My first blog on Multiply was dated the 26th October 2007. That's over five years ago and whilst it never reached the heights of Yahoo! 360 there's no doubt that it had a lot going for it.

I don't think things will ever be the same again.

Originally I wasn't going to save any of my blogs from Multiply but then I realised that all my 'Ticking Away ...' postings are on there and if nothing else they provide a factual account of my decline [I use the word with my tongue in my cheek] ... and who knows in years to come someone might want to read them and see how things went. Heck, I'm dying to know.

I've also saved a few family tree blogs but only one or two walking blogs.

When I'd gone through 33 pages of postings and saw there were still another 30 pages left I thought enough's enough ... and, of course, my photos are on Flickr and my hard drive or my external hard drive. You can't keep everything.

Another chapter comes to a close.

In the meantime Blogger, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram keep me busy enough.

  2. It's this thing called 'time' Ann ... it's passing quicker and quicker :-)

  3. I debated about saving my blogs but in the end, decided not to. When Multiply flushes itself down the drain all my inane postings will go with it.

I just checked and my first post was April 26, 2007....so ha! I'm older than you.

    1. You're 'older' by a few months too. I just felt that I ought to save some as a few of them may have some sort of value ... some time.

  4. Hi Charlie!

I haven't been on Multiply lately. I guess I had my fill of writing through my dissertation. I wanted to pick back up, but just in time to see that my platform was going to be pulled out from under my feet.

I do have a blogspot, blogger, blogspot, facebook and twitter though, so I hope not to lose touch so soon.

    Twitter: imthelibrarian
    Facebook: you have
    other blogs under Mariannethelibrarian

pop in and I promise to do the same.

    1. I've left a comment on your Facebook page. I mentioned that I haven't been able to follow you on Blogger ~ perhaps you need to amend your settings slightly.

  5. Even though I don't have quite the same affection for Multiply as I did Yahoo! 360 it is a shame to see it go. I did export my pages in the end (and managed to recover my 360 posts after finding a dusty old file hidden in the depths of my filing system) not for the posts as such, but more for the comments and discussion which followed. Memories of happy days - days when I obviously had far too much time on my hands!

    1. It's good to see you on here Sean ... I see you're on WordPress but I have arranged to get emails notifying me when you post anything.

      I hope you're well.

  6. I saved very few Multiply blogs. Maybe ten of them and that included a recipe that I had created and didn't want to lose. I guess Multiply has closed ... haven't been able to get on the site today.

I'm glad that you kept the blogs that were meaningful to you, Charlie. Certainly the "Ticking Away" blogs have deep meaning to all who read them.

    *sigh*

    1. Multiply still seems to be functioning and I have just posted a comment or two on my very last blog ... perhaps they're having second thoughts.

Hopefully the 'Ticking Away' blogs will keep on ticking away.

  7. Multiply now returns "502 proxy error." Cannot "get" ... I'm glad we're connected elsewhere too.
I'm not sure how much writing I wrote will actually be missed, goodness knows, a great large heap of it was nothing but drivel. The middle aged woman's mind is a seriously scary place. ((((Hugs))))

    1. Perhaps I can get into Multiply because I;m near the end of the alphabet ? It's a thought anyway. As for writing drivel I think that statement might be aimed against a lot of us Kaz :-)

  8. I saved a handful of posts that have special memories for me, but most I consigned to the electronic dustbin. Here's to the future on Blogger.

    1. It will be interesting to see if the traffic on Blogger picks up Mitch ~ I know you always said it would [and I wouldn't disagree with you] though quite a few people have gone to platforms which resemble Multiply but which in my mind look a bit too messy.

  9. I shipped all my Multiply posts out to Blogger and will go through them there to sort out the gooduns. I also went in and deleted my Multiply account yesterday. It gave me some kind of perverse satisfaction to do so, as opposed to waiting for them to do it.

    1. I can understand you ending it all personally on Multiply Jenny, rather than let it be a random matter.

  10. I had my blogs transferred over here so my number of blogs went up dramatically. Someday I will get a clever person to save them on to disks for me. You are more industrious than I am, Charlie. I can only keep up to e-mail and blogger. Mind you I spend some time doing Amnesty International letters too. I don't know why I am hooked up to the UK chapter instead of the Canadian, but decided it doesn't matter as the information is the same for world-wide cases.
